Boots 'most powerful' age-reversal SPF launched today is so popular it's crashed the website

A year after launching its now bestselling range, Boots has started selling a brand new product in its popular Future Renew line-up. The collection of skin-protecting products has quickly become the jewel of the health and beauty retailer’s crown, selling one product every two seconds on launch day.
And the latest drop, No7 Future Renew Damage Protection Defence Shield SPF50, is continuing Boots’ mission to help skincare fans reverse the visible effects of skin damage. It’s proving so popular, we were unable to get on the Boots website earlier this morning when it was first released.
The product costs £24.95 and contains peptides and making it a ‘lightweight, hydrating fluid’, specifically designed for everyday use all year round. What’s more, the first customers who get their hands on it this morning will also bag themselves £100 worth of freebies, dependent on stock levels.

The No7 Future Renew Damage Protection Defence Shield SPF50, comes following research that the sun is the main cause of visible skin damage, responsible for up to 80 per cent of premature skin ageing such as hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, as the Mirror reports. The product has been designed to work in conjunction with the existing Future Renew range – targeted to reversing visible signs of sun damage and ageing – to protect it against everyday sun damage in the future, too.
In user trials, 93% of people agreed it has a lightweight, invisible application, and has been formulated to be fast absorbing and shine-free so it sits easily under makeup. A select number of customers have already given it a go, and it’s received high praise from users, who say it’s ‘light’ and leaves skin feeling moisturised.
One said: “This has been a welcome addition to my daily skincare routine. It is super light weight and does not leave any whiteness on my skin as I have found with other sun protection. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and acts as a great base for makeup.”
Another added: “I prefer to use high factor protection on my skin because I am fair but often factor 50 is thick and heavy and makes my skin feel like it can’t breathe. This will not only give me ample protection but also feels light, doesn’t make my skin look white and actually feels moisturised too. Can’t wait for the summer to use it properly.”
While a third penned: “Works very well under makeup. Without makeup, I do need to powder my face and I notice my face gets a little more oily. But overall, for a product with SPF 50, this is minimal.”
Over on the Boots website, excitement is building for the launch, with a countdown until it goes on sale. The landing page also says the first 5,000 customers to buy any Future Renew product on April 10 will receive a free gift worth over £100, though it’s not been specified what is in the freebie.
Speaking on the launch. Clare O’Connor, No7 Senior Research Scientist said: “While age and time are factors in skin ageing, exposure to UV light is the single biggest cause of accelerated appearance of skin damage. While the cells on the surface of our skin constantly turn over and renew, deeper within skin there are cells and proteins, such as collagen, that are incredibly long lived and can last our whole lifetime. Even short bursts of sun exposure cause damage to these cells and proteins which build up, eventually being displayed as visible signs of sun damage such as dryness, uneven texture, lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and loss of firmness.”
She went on to explain why daily sun protection is so important, and why the latest innovation from No7 is set to be popular with shoppers, adding: “No7 Future Renew is clinically proven to reverse visible signs of sun damage but, of course, it is critical to protect against sun damage too. In the UK, we tend to think about sunscreen when we are going overseas or intentionally spending all day outside, and we are less inclined to consider it warranted for shorter exposures. That’s why we have added a lightweight, hydrating SPF50 to the No7 Future Renew range, ensuring we have a high protection product with a light texture that sits easily under makeup, and is ideal for all year round, everyday usage.”
The launch follows a successful year for the Future Renew collection, which saw hundreds queue in store on its release day, after racking up a waiting list of 94,000 people. They sold almost 25,000 serums on launch day, and since then, one product has continued to sell every seven seconds. The range, which features a day cream, night cream, serum and eye cream, also holds the record for the highest repeat purchase rate of any facial skincare in Boots.
Among the people singing its praises after using it for six weeks is Nottingham Live Editor Natalie Fahy, who reckons it’s a great alternative if you don’t fancy injectables, improving her skin texture and lightening dark circles in less than two months. After trialling the range for six weeks, she said: “My first impressions on receiving the package was that the products had a scientific look and a good weight to them. These will look good on your bathroom shelf. The lids open easily and dispense a sensible amount of product.
“The serum glides onto the skin and dries within seconds leaving no residue at all. You could easily use it as a base for make-up alone as it leaves your skin very smooth. The day cream is a little heavier and I’d say you hardly need to use any. The night cream is only lightly-scented but really fresh and feels quite indulgent.
“I’ve noticed since using the cream that I look less exhausted when I wake up in the morning. My skin seems to have a bit of life to it now and the bags under my eyes look lighter. My skin has a nicer texture to it too now. I can’t say I have noticed an improvement in the lines around my eyes, but I’ve seen other reviews saying this can take around 12 weeks to happen. If you’re looking for something that does not involve injecting something into your skin, I would say you definitely need to give this range a go.
“The prices of these products are fairly high. I’d try the serum first if you are unsure, at £34.95 for 25ml, and see how you get on before investing in the others. Both the day and night cream are priced at £34.95 for 50ml and the eye serum is £24.95 for 15ml. The whole regime can be purchased for £85 at the moment on the Boots website, which is a saving of £44.80 on the products separately.”
Other facial SPFs that shoppers have been loving, includes the Garnier Vitamin C Daily UV Brightening Fluid Sheer Glow, SPF50+ , which we’ve seen all over our TikTok For you page, and comes in at £12.76 on Amazon. Meanwhile, the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid Non-Perfumed Suncream SPF50+ is currently down to £16 from £20, said to create ‘a lightweight veil on the skin with an invisible, non-greasy finish’.
Ahead of the launch, Boots has launched a number of deals on the No7 range, including three for two on selected No7, which includes the Future Renew range, as well as an offer where you can save £5 on a £35 spend, £10 on a £50 spend and £20 when you spend £70 on selected No7.
