Peter Phillips' £500k wedding gift revealed – while sister Zara turned down similar £1m offer

PETER Phillips has split from his partner Lindsay Wallace, who he dated after the end of his marriage to ex wife Autumn Kelly.
While Princess Anne’s son was yet to pop the question to his girlfriend, he did get an eye-watering £500,000 perk when he married former wife Autumn.
Peter and Canadian-born management consultant Autumn met at the 2003 Canadian Grand Prix, where she was working for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
She later moved to the UK, where she lived with Peter in an apartment in Kensington, London.
The pair were married in 2008 and opened their doors – and bank balances – to a magazine for their special day.
The royal couple, who share daughters Savannah, 13, and Isla, 12, received £500,000 for a 20-page spread in Hello! magazine , which ruffled feathers among the royals.
“Peter has always managed to stay out of the limelight by claiming that he is a private person.
The couple even gave up a £1million fee for their own nuptials and planned to foot part of the wedding bill themselves, according to the Mail.
This was partly down to Zara’s “fierce determination to stand on her own two feet”, according to a source.
The rest would be paid for by Zara’s parents, Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, and the late Queen, with the taxpayers covering the security costs.
Olympian equestrian Zara and rugby star Mike were said to earn six figures at the time through their sporting careers and lucrative sponsorship deals.
A royal insider said: “Just because he has done it, doesn’t necessarily mean she would. It’s effectively been ruled out from the start.
“Zara’s taken advantage of the benefits of being a celebrity before, but the wedding is a different kettle of fish.
“She’s a real favourite of the Queen and would feel terrible about irritating her.”
However, Zara reportedly did invite Hello! Magazine inside her home in 2002 when she lived with her then-boyfriend, jockey Richard Johnson, for a £125,000 fee.
In February 2020, Peter confirmed he was divorcing wife Autumn, saying “it’s sad but is best for the kids”.
After his divorce from Autumn, Peter started a relationship with Lindsay in 2021, even introducing her to his late grandmother.
The 18th in line to the throne also took his lover to royal events such as Wimbledon, Ascot, the Coronation concert and baby christenings.
However, after three years together it has been revealed they have broken up.
The split was reportedly “amicable”, with nobody else believed to be involved.
A source said: “They were friends before their relationship blossomed.
“But Peter and Lindsay have gone their separate ways as the relationship simply ran its course.”
They first met when Lindsay and Phillip’s sister Zara both attended £45,000-a-year Gordonstoun School, Scotland.
It is believed he and Lindsay reconnected and became friends again at a 2019 reunion.
Peter started his working career off in hospitality, working for big companies like Jaguar.
He is now the managing director of Sports & Entertainment UK Ltd, which has its headquarters on Buckingham Palace Road in London.
